The Toronto Transportation Club (TTC) is enhancing its scholarship program, increasing financial support for recipients, and expanding its reach to students pursuing skilled trades careers in the transportation and logistics sector.
Beginning this year, TTC will increase its scholarship awards from up to four payments of $2,000 to up to four payments of $2,500, boosting the total potential value per recipient to $10,000 over a four-year post-secondary program.
The organization is also introducing two new scholarships in 2025, aimed specifically at supporting students entering specialized career paths.

The MacTrans Scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing education in the field of supply chain and logistics. Meanwhile, the Trailcon Leasing Scholarship will support students enrolled in heavy-duty truck and trailer technician (310T or 310J) or transport refrigeration technician programs.
TTC president Stacey Large said the expansion reflects the club’s mission to promote education and career awareness in the transportation sector.
“Education and career awareness in transportation are more important than ever,” Large said in a release. “By expanding our scholarship program, we’re not only providing greater financial support but also encouraging more young professionals to explore the wide range of opportunities within our industry.”
Past-president Chris Petersen, who played a key role in advancing the scholarship expansion, added, “Skilled trades are a crucial part of our industry, and we recognize the need to support students pursuing these essential careers. This expansion of our program is a direct investment in the future workforce of transportation.”
The TTC credited its members for making the additional support possible. One of the program’s most impactful fundraising events is the Power of Education Fall Golf Classic. Launched more than a decade ago by past-president John Foss, the tournament has played a vital role in financing the scholarship program’s growth and long-term sustainability, TTC said in the release.
