The Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Services Unit conducted a two-day commercial vehicle blitz June 25-26, along with other enforcement agencies in the province.
They inspected more than 280 commercial vehicles, placing 90 out of service. A total of 188 charges were laid and 100 warnings issued, organizers say.
Eight sets of plates were pulled and two three-day suspensions were handed out for the presence of drugs or alcohol.
Other agencies involved include the OPP, Peel Regional Police, Guelph Police, Halton Regional Police, Ontario Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Finance.
