Brantford Police Service officers have arrested a 40-year-old Brantford, Ont., man and seized more than 150 kilograms of cocaine, exceeding $5 million in value, following multiple search warrants earlier this month.
At approximately 11:45 p.m. on Aug. 2, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on the property of a local business. The suspect, a registered driver of the tractor-trailer, was later identified and arrested at a residence without incident, police said in a news release on Aug. 12.
Search warrants were executed around 1 a.m. on Aug. 3 at multiple locations, including a transport truck, tractor-trailer, two vehicles, a business, and a West Brant residence. Police say the cocaine with a street value of $5,040,000 was found inside a vehicle.
The accused faces charges of importing, trafficking, and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, as well as two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. He was held for a bail hearing.
The investigation involved members of the drug firearms enforcement unit, criminal intelligence unit, emergency response team, K9, forensic identification unit, and frontline officers.
