Thieves struck in Ontario, stealing a meat load in Windsor, and a truck, trailer and other equipment in Douro-Dummer, a township in the central-eastern part of the province.

The Windsor Police Service (WPS) is investigating the theft of boneless beef chuck roast worth US$160,000 (about $222,000) from a parked tractor-trailer.

The incident took place on Aug. 2, according to a WPS news release. Shortly after 2:30 p.m., a semi-truck attached to a Coast 2 Coast Xpress trailer was parked in a lot in the 2400 block of Cabana Rd. E. The trailer contained 530 boxes of meat.

At 6:30 p.m., police said that a dark grey Jeep Rubicon and a white Cascadia Freightliner entered the lot. Two unknown males were observed breaking into the semi-truck and driving away with the trailer.

One suspect is described as slim build, long dark curly hair, wearing all black clothing. The other was wearing dark pants, a light-coloured shirt, and a dark baseball hat.

The stolen trailer and goods are believed to have been moved along Highway 401. Both remain outstanding, police added.

Investigators are urging residents and business owners in the area to review their surveillance or dashcam footage for any possible evidence.
