Kodiak AI put its autonomous driver against human drivers in a safety evaluation by Nauto, and finished tied for the highest Visually Enhanced Risk Assessment (VERA) score for safe driving.
The VERA score is Nauto’s proprietary safety benchmark that summarizes a fleet’s driving events and behaviors into a single score. The Kodiak Driver earned a VERA score of 98, the companies announced, tying it for top spot among more than 1,000 commercial fleets in Nauto’s network.
“Nauto’s findings add support to our belief that the Kodiak Driver is already among the safest drivers on American highways,” said Don Burnette, founder and CEO, Kodiak.

Kodiak recorded perfect scores of 100 in the inattentive driving, high-risk driving, traffic violation categories, while scoring 95 in the aggressive driving category.
