The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA) named Stephen Hare of Midland Transport its Driver of the Year, and Raymond Dunbar of Eassons Transportation Group, the Good Samaritan of the Year.
The drivers were honored during the association’s annual industry awards dinner in Moncton on Dec. 11, dedicated to recognizing and celebrating achievements within the Atlantic Canadian trucking industry.
From riding along with his uncle as a kid to becoming a trusted operator, Hare has always lived and breathed trucking, APTA said in a news release. He brings dedication, old-school work ethic, and unwavering pride in everything he does with the highest standard of professionalism.

While on the road, Dunbar came across a serious accident and didn’t hesitate to act. Seeing a passenger trapped by her seat belt in a flipped vehicle, he ran back to his truck, retrieved a seat belt cutter, and safely freed her, keeping her calm until emergency services arrived.
