This year’s Big Rig Nationals, held Aug. 15-16 at St. Thomas Dragway in Ontario, turned into a tribute to Joanne Mackenzie, the late founder of Trucking for a Cure.
A memorial parade called “Joanne Mackenzie’s Last Ride” featured the CBM Pinkie Truck, driven by Andrew McNally and Laura Horner, leading a convoy of support. Mackenzie, who died earlier this year, launched Trucking for a Cure to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research within the trucking industry.
Big Rig Nationals has long partnered with the charity, combining Show ‘N Shine displays and big rig racing with fundraising efforts. Drivers, families, and fans from across the region took part in this year’s event.
Organizers credited the continued success of the Nationals to sponsor support, including Jacobs Transportation, Titan Trailers, King of Bling/Bling Industries, Premier Truck Group, Gerry’s Truck Centre, and others.
