1 min read

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers seized nearly 77 kilograms of cocaine from a commercial truck at the Coutts, Alta., port of entry.

The drugs — found Sept. 25, during a secondary examination of the truck entering Canada from the U.S. — have an estimated street value of about $7 million. Officers arrested the driver, identified as 28-year-old Surj Singh Salaria of Calgary.

A criminal investigation was launched and Salaria has been charged with importation of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and attempting to export prohibited or controlled goods. He is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Oct. 27, 2025.
