Dot Foods triples Calgary warehouse capacity with new distribution center

1 min read

Dot Foods Canada and its transportation arm, Dot Transportation Canada, have celebrated a move to a larger distribution center in Calgary, Alta., tripling their previous capacity to meet growing demand across Western Canada.

The new 284,212 sq.-ft. facility, located at 4639 72 Ave SE, includes dry, refrigerated, and frozen storage, expanded dock and office space, and improved employee break areas, according to a news release. The company invested approximately $2 million to retrofit the building after relocating from its original Calgary site.

“We see so much potential in the Canadian market,” said George Eversman, president of Dot Foods. “That’s why we continue to invest in larger facilities. The new Calgary distribution center gives us the space and infrastructure to continue to grow and to operate more efficiently and better serve our customers in Western Canada.”

The site currently employs more than 40 people, and Dot expects to add 35 new positions in warehousing, administration, and truck driving over the next three years. Dot’s Canadian operations launched in 2016 through its acquisition of redistributor Marketwest and have since expanded to Brampton and Ingersoll, Ont.

To mark the grand opening on June 17, the company hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and announced a total of $25,000 charitable donation to five Calgary-area organizations, including Roots 2 STEM, Hope Mission, Calgary United Way, Calgary Police Youth, and Alzheimer Calgary.

“Community partnership has been a cornerstone of how we operate since day one,” Eversman said. “That commitment continues here in Calgary.”
