Kodiak selects NXP chip technologies for autonomous trucks

Autonomous truck maker Kodiak has decided on the NXP S32G3 vehicle network processor and S32K3 microcontroller and PMIC products to support its driverless vehicles.

The company says the NXP suite of processors are compliant with the highest levels of automotive safety.

NXP’s S32G3 vehicle network processor, S32K3 microcontroller, VR5510 multi-channel high-voltage power management integrated circuit (PMIC), and PF53 are integrated in the Kodiak Actuation Control Engine (ACE), Kodiak’s custom computer that manages vehicle actuation independently from the main autonomy system, the company announced in a release.

The NXP processors enable functions like vehicle performance monitoring. The Kodiak Driver evaluates the performance of more than 1,000 safety-critical processes and components 10 times per second.
