PlusAI, Goodyear partner to integrate tire intelligence into autonomous trucks

1 min read

PlusAI is collaborating with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company to explore how Goodyear’s SightLine intelligent tire technology suite can enhance the performance and safety of its SuperDrive autonomous virtual driver system.

Goodyear’s SightLine technology delivers real-time, sensor-driven insights into tire health, road surface conditions, and friction levels by continuously monitoring the tire-road interface, PlusAI said in a news release, adding that this technology can further strengthen SuperDrive, supporting enhanced data capture that aims to optimize vehicle performance, reduce operating costs for fleet owners, and improve reliability across a wide range of driving environments.

“Our collaboration with Goodyear and their SightLine technology will give us additional vehicle data to further enhance the performance of our SuperDrive system under real-world conditions as we gear up for the commercial launch of factory-built autonomous trucks,” said Shawn Kerrigan, COO and co-founder at PlusAI, in the release.

Over the last nine years, PlusAI has deployed its autonomous driving technology in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, logging more than five million miles. The company partners with global truck makers, including TRATON Group, Hyundai, and IVECO, who will factory-build and support trucks powered by SuperDrive. PlusAI and its partners aim to launch these factory-built autonomous trucks in 2027, beginning in the U.S. before expanding into Europe.
