Transtex unveils hinge-free aerodynamic cab extender

1 min read

Transtex has unveiled the Edge Cabflex, an aerodynamic cab extender fairing that it said can reduce costs for trucking fleets.

The Edge Cabflex was designed “to make drivers’ lives easier and fleets more profitable. It’s the next step in advancing safety, performance, and sustainability across North America’s roads,” said Todd McGuire, Transtex’s senior vice-president of sales. The product was announced at the American Trucking Associations Management Conference & Exhibition.

Transtex said the device is a hinge-free solution that provides drivers with greater turning angles, reducing damage caused by jackknifing. The product assembly weighs in at 70 lb. (31.7 kg.), saving 26 lb. (11.7 kg.) compared with extenders from other equipment manufacturers.

“We’re giving fleets a smarter way to optimize performance and meet their efficiency targets,”
said Mathieu Desjardins, president of Transtex.

The Edge Cabflex can be installed on new trucks through modification centers or as a retrofit. Transtex manufactures the device at its Indianapolis facility using its own composite materials, which are made in Pennsylvania.

Earlier this year, Transtex released a new electric auxiliary power unit (eAPU) dubbed the DClimate Lithium Pro.
