Uber Freight has appointed Rebecca Tinucci as chief executive officer, succeeding founder Lior Ron, who will move into the role of chairman.

Ron will also become chief operating officer at autonomous trucking company Waabi, in which Uber is a major investor, according to a news release.

Tinucci previously led Tesla’s global charging organization, turning it into a profitable, multi-billion-dollar business and driving collaborations that established the North American electric vehicle charging standard, Uber Freight said in a news release. Most recently, she led Uber’s global electrification strategy, forging partnerships across the energy and mobility ecosystems to accelerate Uber’s zero-emission goals.

“Uber Freight has built something truly special — a platform that changes the game for shippers, carriers, and the entire industry,” Tinucci said. “I couldn’t be more excited to roll up my sleeves with this team to keep raising the bar for our customers and showing the market what’s next.”

Ron founded Uber Freight nine years ago and oversaw its growth from a startup within Uber to a global logistics platform with more than US$20 billion in freight under management. He said, “Rebecca is a proven leader who brings strong operational chops, customer empathy, and platform thinking. I’m thrilled to support her as she takes the helm for Uber Freight’s next chapter.”

Tinucci will make her first public appearance as CEO at Deliver 2025, Uber Freight’s customer event in September.
